Nestled away from prying eyes and telephoto lenses, on one  of the UK’s most exclusive private estates, lies Whitelands.

The vision of family run company, Lucas Design, Whitelands on St George’s Hill, Surrey offers the utmost in luxurious living. With its palatial, grand façade and sweeping driveway, this detached mansion is perfect for those looking for a flawless home.

Spanning an incredible 14,500 square feet, Whitelands comprises six spacious bedrooms, five bathrooms, two kitchens and almost 4,000 square feet of entertaining space including a hydraulic swimming pool, vitality spa, gym, cocktail bar, games room, home cinema and underground parking garage complete with car turntable.

Recently completed to a premiership standard and available to purchase (POA), the stunning interior design of Whitelands is credited to Alexander James Interior Design. With over twenty years’ experience creating show homes in the Home Counties, Lucas Design approached Alexander James to showcase this magnificent house.

“The moment I walked into Whitelands, it struck me with its beauty and grandeur. With a property of this magnificence, I felt it was so important to do it justice with my interior design. I was inspired by the palatial feel of the architecture, and I wanted to create a scheme that would make it feel cosy and homely while remaining opulent and sophisticated”

In addition to dressing Whitelands, the Alexander James architectural team were invited to reshape the basement entertainment area in order to maximise space and functionality as well as design and specify the finishes throughout the entire property. So impressive was their work that Alexander James were awarded an accolade at The International Property Interior Design Awards.

Standout features of Whitelands include the striking chandeliers and lighting features to occupy the tall ceilings and sweeping stairwell, floor to ceiling full width glass wall separating the kitchen and orangery from the swimming pool allowing an unobstructed line of sight from the dining room at one end of the house all the way to the other and large hydraulic swimming pool with rising floor and geometric patterning providing a space that can be completely versatile, either as a swimming pool, or an entertaining function room/ballroom.

The property is packed full of high quality fabrics and finishes, not only throughout the furniture, soft furnishings and accessories, but also in the hard furnishings and amenities. Bespoke lighting combined with the best fabrics and wallpaper on almost every wall together give Whitelands an expensive and exclusive feel.

“The interior design follows a contemporary and truly luxurious style. We used pattern and texture in the fabrics and wallpapers to bring warmth and depth to the scheme, providing a plush and inviting feel. I also designed spectacular bespoke chandeliers to add the ultimate wow-factor!”

Within the carefully designed basement lies the vitality spa. In elegant black and gold, the spa is designed to provide the utmost in luxury and one of the biggest attractions of the house. Located between the gym and the cinema room, it is a superb space for entertaining with a fully inclusive set of treatment areas. Unlike the rest of the house, the spa is full of curves in the architecture, facilities and furniture, giving the space a majestic and relaxing feel. The raised, oval coffered ceiling with hidden lighting casts an elegant and soothing glow across the spa.

For those with petrol running through their veins, then the garage, with circular coffered ceiling reflected on the ground through the car turntable, is the jewel in the crown. In addition, the dark and atmospheric “gentleman’s office” on the ground floor complete with geometric hounds-tooth wall coverings provides the ultimate space from which to work from home if required.

Further indulgent features include the “his and hers” dressing rooms and ensuite bathrooms off the spacious master bedroom on the first floor. “His” dressing room, tucked away behind a hidden mirror door, comprises ebony gloss lacquered fitted wardrobes and complementary mahogany dressing boy to reinforce the masculinity of the room. “Her” dressing room oozes timeless elegance with off-white fitted wardrobes and inset faux leather panelling to add an elegant touch to the private abode.

“Whitelands is a property that is designed to impress and it does it well! It’s luxury at its best, and you feel that the moment you set eyes upon it.”
